A Quick Intro to the Generations of Mobile Networks

Ohk So today we will be discussing about Mobile networks, its Generations and why is very essential to the us and the world, but before that you might ask what is a mobile network. In simple terms it is just a network that moves with you where ever you go. It sounds simple right but in reality it is a very complex technology. In more technical terms, a mobile network or know to some as cellular networks is a telecommunications network in which the link (communication) from the transmitting point which is also the sender and the receiving is a wireless communication. Over the years since it creations there have been a lot of evolutions of this technology and the have been so many of this technology such as:

  • Voice Call and SMS: One of the major reasons for creating mobile networks was for easier communications at any locations. so through mobile networks making call and messaging people from where ever you are as been made possible. This is the most basic of all the application.

  • Home Automation: Now this is one of the applications that has been on the rage these days. Home automations is basically controlling your home with IoT devices from anywhere you are. With the advent of mobile networks you it has been made possible to control your home using IoT devices from anywhere be it in your office or your friends house.

  • Streaming Services: For this I would like to say that your mobile network is basically still a network and its still able to connect to the internet to communicate with other severs across the world. With the help of mobile network you will still be able to stream your favourite shows without any issues.

Above are just some of the applications of this technology, the next thing to look out for is how good this technology is and for that we would be taking a look at the evolution of this technology over the years since its creation.

  • First Generation (1G) : This was the depute of this technology and it was introduced in the 1980s and it did not have much coverage i.e the areas of calls where very small and the voice quality was quite low and it was done using analog signals.

  • Second Generation (2G) : This was a massive improvement over the the first generation in the sense that is improved on alot of the problem that it had such as the low voice quality, security and it even introduced a new feature was data communication since the communication was now done digitally.

  • Third Generation (3G) : Now this is one I am expecting people from my generation to know cause we grew up with this third generation. This was the generation that started video calling... wow we have come a long way with this technology. This was possible because this generation addressed faster data transmission and mobile internet access became possible. That is a wonderful improvement, i.e because of this generation we could start accessing the internet in all its glory at the comfort of our homes even better on our beds and we did not need to cyber cafes anymore.

  • Fourth generation (4G) : Before we knew it the fourth generations came about and with this came talks of home automations, telemedicine, online gaming and various more complex task because of it fast data transmission speeds and better security. It was know as LTE (Long Term Evolution).

  • Fifth Generation (5G) : Hmm we just keep going and getting better. This is the current generation we are on and i have to say i am just marveled at how far we have come. In this generation again we have faster speeds and more reliable data transmission and in this era of artificial intelligence is a very important. We are able to send massive chucks of data from any where in world in minutes. This generation is advocating for remote work.

  • Sixth Generation (6G) : Hmm... I never thought we would get here when i was a child now i cant imagine how far we can go with this technology. This is currently being developed i for one cant wait for what this new generation will bring us.

With this you can see how vital this technology is to us in our daily lives and you can also see how far we have come with this technology, and I do hope and pray we get to see more powerful advancements in this technology.
